One of the most important things to understand about Islam is that it is not just a religion for Fridays or prayers alone. The Holy Quran makes it clear that Islam is a complete and total way of life — it covers every single area of human existence, from how a person prays to how a country should be governed.
The Holy Quran provides guidance on:
This guidance was then further explained and demonstrated by the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad PBUH — meaning his words, actions, and approvals — making the guidance practical and applicable for everyday life.
A very important principle taught by the Holy Quran is that religion and life cannot be separated. In some Western traditions, it is believed that religious matters belong to God and worldly matters belong to rulers. Islam firmly rejects this idea.
According to the Holy Quran, every part of life — whether it is eating, working, governing, or worshipping — must be submitted to the will of Allah SWT. A Muslim is required to dedicate every aspect of his or her life to Allah SWT alone.
This is expressed in the following verse:
"Say: `Truly, my prayer, my sacrifice, my living and my dying are for Allah, the Lord of the Worlds….." (Surah Al-An'am 6:162)
Context: In this verse, Allah SWT commands Prophet Muhammad PBUH to declare that absolutely everything — prayer, sacrifice, life, and even death — belongs to Allah SWT alone. This teaches Muslims that no part of life can be excluded from the guidance of Allah SWT.
