English Translation:
"Religion is sincerity." We said: "To whom?" The Prophet (PBUH) said: "To Allah, his Book, his Messenger, the leaders of the Muslims and to their common people."
What This Hadith Teaches:
The central message of this Hadith is that sincerity (Nasiha) is the heart and soul of religion. True faith is not just words — it must show in one's actions and intentions at every level.
Five Dimensions of Sincerity:
Sincerity to Allah SWT: A Muslim must genuinely believe that Allah SWT is the only Creator, Sustainer, and Lord. He has no partners. All worship must be for Him alone, never for show or worldly gain.
Sincerity to the Book of Allah SWT (the Quran): A Muslim must believe the Quran is the true and direct speech of Allah SWT. It is not merely read — it must be understood and obeyed in daily life.
"Say: He is Allah, One, Allah, the Eternal, Absolute, He begets not, nor is He begotten, and there is none equal or comparable to Him." (112:1–4)
Sincerity to the Messenger — Prophet Muhammad PBUH: This means firmly believing in his Prophet-hood, following his commands, and holding him as the finest example of a human being.
"You have indeed in the Messenger of Allah an excellent model" (33:21)
Sincerity to Muslim Leaders: Muslims must follow their leaders when those leaders govern according to the Quran, Sunnah, and the consensus of scholars (Ijma). Loyalty to righteous leadership is part of faith.
Sincerity to the General Muslim Community (Umma): A sincere Muslim works for the well-being and dignity of all people — regardless of their background, ethnicity, or gender.
Key Belief Strengthened: Sincerity purifies all deeds. An action done without sincerity has no value before Allah SWT. An action done with true sincerity is rewarded many times over.
